Education and Training

CRNA Program is certified by Council on Accreditation of Nursing Anesthetist, and proper training is provided to the students with real exposure to professional experience.  On completion of 3 years, everyone has to go through the final exam set by the Council on Accreditation (COA) to be declared as a Certified Nursing Anesthetist (CRNA). This CRNA program also provides the students with online learning facility. Proper training is given to students in different fields of anesthesia enabling students to evaluate patients for, anesthesia administration, post anesthesia care, anesthesia planning and pre-anesthetic administration evaluation and anesthesia requirements on age. At the time of graduation, students are fully prepared for the different form of anesthesia administration including region, local, and general. During one year and four months, of training, you will be relocated to various clinical sites in the State of Texas in urban and suburban areas where you will go through real time experience in the treatment of live patients. Students can also complete the DNP program without a thesis.

 

CRNA Admission Requirement at University of Texas Houston

  • To enroll in the CRNA program in the University of Texas Houston, a candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing having minimum CGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0.
  • Interested candidates must have a current working Nursing license.
  • To secure admission in CRNA program, a candidate must have an experience of at least one year in critical care unit, two years of experience is preferred. Expertise in the Intensive Care Unit of any type is also accepted except experience in adult Intensive Care Unit. Experience possess in a postanesthetic care unit, OT and Emergency are not accepted.
  • A 3.0 minimum CGPA  is required above than that will be added as a plus point.

 

English Language Proficiency (GRE/IELTS)

A minimum score of 500 is required in GRE in each section of quantitative and verbal and 3.5 scores is needed in written part. Candidates having GRE test scores revised, in verbal section a score of 153 in the verbal section, a score of 144 in the Quantitative and 3.5 score in the writing skills, which should be taken in last five years. Candidates having scored in MAT isn’t valid for the CRNA degree program.

Educational qualification will be evaluated for the candidates applying outside U.S by the Educational Evaluation Credentials (ECE).
