Education and Training

CRNA program is designed according to the needs of modern medicine. CRNA Program is certified by Council On Accreditation of Nursing Anesthetist, and proper training is provided to the students with real exposure to professional experience. On completion of 2 years and three months program, everyone has to go through the final exam set by the Council on Accreditation to be declared as a Certified Registered Nursing Anesthetist (CRNA).

In the start of the program, students have to attend maximum classes with 20 hours per week of clinical experience to practice their nursing skills. The nursing classes comprise of twenty credit hours, and anesthesia classes consist of forty credit hours. In last one year and two months of MS course, the students will attend four days in each week of clinical practice and one day in each week of classes. During the medical experience, students will be involved in different types of anesthesia administration including local and general. The students will be relocated to the state of Ohio to gain a broader range of clinical experience.

 

Admission Requirement at University of Akron Ohio

  • A candidate should have BS degree in Nursing
  • A candidate should have registered nurse license issued by the state of Ohio.
  • A candidate should have one year of full-time experience in Adult Care Unit and expertise gained in ICU, Coronary ICU, Medical ICU, and Surgical ICU. The lessons learned in the following department are not accepted: Neonatal ICU, Pediatric ICU, Emergency Room, Step-Down Unit, Labor Room, Catheterization Lab, and OT.
  • A candidate should have a minimum GPA of 3.0
